Here is a another fun one I just finished. I wanted to keep this one fun and cartoony, but my primary goal was to keep it in the 1,000 poly range. This model will have about 1,100 faces when its done. I still need the belt buckle and the hanging fabric from the belt and mask. This was colored using nothing but lambert fills, I will post a UV mapping version soon (of course with the weapons and the rest of the crew). Salud...
This one took 5hours to do, it was one of those models where you really dont want to stop and you get kind of sad when its done. It happened so fast.
I think this model has immaculate flow, I think the only way to achieve this flow is by attaching the legs and arms after they have been modeled. I always get weird geometry when I model with the hands and legs attached to the body. I spent so much time moving the vertex it destroys my work flow.
Here is my vector drawing, I like to call it my blueprint. I can tell by the drawing alone that it was going to be fun to do. I didn't include a neck in the drawing but I think it just made more sense for it to have a neck in the 3D model.
Honestly I think that without this drawing I could have never reached the level of the 3D rendering. The reason being is that I figure out all stylized shapes and where I want them, that way when I start into the model Im just sculpting from memory instead of reinventing ideas.
